王广兴，1982年毕业于中南林业科技大学，1996年获芬兰赫尔辛基大学（University of Helsinki）博士学位，现任美国南伊利诺伊大学（Southern Illinois University at Carbondale）地理与环境资源系副教授，长期从事森林资源和环境遥感研究，内容涉及抽样，调查，模拟，估计，动态监测，植被和土地利用分类，生物量估测，人与环境的关系，水土流失及土地退化评估。在Remote Sensing of Environment、IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and remote sensing, International Journal of Remote Sensing, Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing，Transactions in GIS, Landscape Ecology, Catena, Environmental Management，Soil and Water Conservation, Ecological Modeling, Silva Fennica, Scandinavian Journal of Forest Research等学术刊物上发表论文40多篇。
